Compact, Ultra-Rugged 12.1" Smart Display with "Boot Kick" Resistive Touchscreen and NVIS
The SmartView™ HD12WL integrates the most rugged, crisp 12.1 inch diagonal display with a fifth-generation Core™ i7 processor resulting in the thinnest, most powerful and robust smart display on the market today. It is designed to provide the highest level of workstation performance possible in a fully ruggedized, fully sealed system with an ultra-bright display and Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS). The SmartView™ HD12WL is targeted for applications where a vigorous computer with a rugged display is needed to deliver the best possible stand-alone-system, per dollar and per watt, while utilizing rugged interconnects to provide a fully sealed smart display system!
The SmartView™ HD12WL supports the power-efficient Intel® “Broadwell” Quad Core™ i7 processor with Hyper-Threading for a total of 8 logical cores, each operating up to 2.7 GHz with the ability to Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz. To harvest this incredible CPU performance, the CPU is coupled with up to 16 GB of RAM organized in two banks that support error correcting code (ECC). The ECC RAM provides 2-bit error detection and 1-bit error correction and supports up to 1600 mega-transfers per second (MTS) between CPU and memory. The HD12WL is offered with several screen options in 16:10 format, with or without touchscreen and bezel keys. The display for the HD12WL screen is protected with the most rugged glass available in the market, which can withstand a direct “boot kick” without damaging the display or the touch screen. The HD12WL supports High Definition (HD) of 1280 x 800 resolution in widescreen format. It is viewable with up to 1800 nits of brightness and supports anti-reflective (AR) and anti-glare (AG) coating for crisp graphics even in direct sunlight. The display also supports NVIS for applications where night vision glasses are used to reduce stress on the viewer. The SmartView™ HD12WL may optionally be purchased with less robust glass and other optional I/O to meet specific requirements and price points.
The I/O subsystem for the SmartView™ is designed to support a wide array of standard and custom I/O functions. The standard configuration supports two 1 GigE Ethernet ports (or optional 10 GigE), three USB 2.0 ports, six buffered digital I/O lines, one internal fixed SSD, capacity of up to 4 TB using SATA SSD (8 TB for optional NVMe SSD) and with secure-erase and write-protect options. Additional standard I/O included are DVI output from the CPU or DVI input from an external source, which can be displayed on the HD12WL screen (bezel key selectable). Eight bezel keys are provided for screen control such as Video Source, Brightness up/down, Contrast up/down, Diagnostics, NVIS, and, Power.
The X9 SPIDER™ family of products redefines embedded computer architectures. The traditional computers in the market (rugged or commercial) require the user to pre-configure their systems up front, making systems either over-built and expensive or under-developed for future growth. This lack of modular expansion capability often forces a full technology refresh. Traditional systems also have to be redesigned when any components such as the CPU, memory, or certain I/O components go end-of-life, rendering the entire system obsolete.
The GMS X9 SPIDER™ family of systems are the result of over 45 years of experience as the market leader in small form factor systems. The X9 SPIDER™ is an open Distributed Computer Architecture (DCA™) where each specific function is defined in a sub-system and linked together via a single LightBolt™ cable that carries high speed (40 Gbps) fiber and 100 W of power, allowing units to be placed up to 50 meters away from each other in any format: Daisy Chain or Star.
This open DCA™ mitigates obsolescence by upgrading/replacing only those functions required to be upgraded. The power delivery to X9 SPIDER™ systems are extremely versatile, flexible, and cost effective. Each system may be powered on its own or by any of the other systems in the “loop”. There are also options for external power supplies with battery back-up that can be added as needed. These sub-systems include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Storage (fixed or removable), GPU, Workstations, Switches, and Displays as well as many others.
The backbone of the X9 SPIDER™ system architecture is Thunderbolt™ 4 which consists of a single cable connecting each box with 40 Gbps transfer speeds, 4K/8K video streams, and Power Delivery making the X9 SPIDER™ the ultimate expandable system.
