Free Form Board Level
General Micro Systems’ board level single board computers offer the highest performance per watt, per dollar on the market. GMS’ unique packaging approach provides more functionality and performance than any of our competition. In comparison to other technologies, such as PC/104 or COM Express, GMS’ free form factor boards offer over 40% more functionality per square inch, while providing a true drop-in replacement upgradability. For example, the GMS PB100x CPU module (4th Generation Intel®Core™ i7 CPU) is the sixth generation free form factor board that is fully backwards compatible to the Intel® Pentium-M of 1996 (P60x). This unmatched upgradability gives users a seamless migration path and allows OEM users to access the latest technology without having to invest heavily in end-of-life (EOL) purchases.
GMS’ free form factor SBCs offer the very latest processor technologies in three distinct categories: low power, workstation and server class. Currently, GMS' free form factor boards utilize Intel® Atom™ processors for low power applications, Intel® Core™ i7 processors for our workstation class and for the most demanding applications, GMS utilizes the 10 and 12 core Intel® Xeon® processors with up to 128GB of RAM.
In conjunction with the several layers of thermal piping embedded in the boards, GMS offers these free form boards with a cold plate for conduction cooled applications, otherwise the user may add his own packaging for air-cooled applications. To help complete a full system design, our offering includes a large selection of system and custom I/O.
GMS’ standalone SBCs are designed from ground up to be conduction cooled with drop-in upgradability and I/O options for OEM users to practically develop any custom system with ease. GMS offers OEM users full design guides and provides design check to them at no cost. Furthermore, GMS offers full turnkey services for custom products with extremely fast turnaround and, in most cases, at cost. GMS’ expertise in system design gives OEM customers the ability to stay ahead of their competition without the need for in-house engineering for the most cost effective product development.
With over 37 years of engineering, development, and production experience, General Micro Systems continues to trump the competition with board level innovation and design.
